YOU
by Simon Groves
2012

All the glory in its manifestation
In your book of illuminations
Stuck in bus queue and frustrated
Sometimes old, and always new

Here is me, looking for something
It's another, if it's not one thing
God forbid that you ever see that thing
Here we are playing for you!

All your story under magnification
Finds expression in your gesticulation
It tickles me that I get so frustrated
Waiting for a bus in such a disorderly queue!

There goes something looking like me
I see it swimming in a golden sea
Get down! but please do please get me!
Cos, God, Here I am looking so much like YOU!

“Dang!!!” is such a good word to have found
It sounds like a bell with a big old sound!
Ring it once and I'll come around
Dang that's good! Dang!! . . .You rang??? DANG!!!

It's mighty fine what you're doing with time
I'm dreaming of heaven, and it's mine
I'll take you there just in time
For you to do all the things you ever wanted to!

But, before you bounce of your mortal coil
Look for the biscuit in the golden foil
It's big and round and it's smiling in the sun!
It's a digestive joy for everyone!
It's YOU, YOU, YOU,
YOU
YOU,
YOU,
YOU,
YOU!

Other Sins
by Simon Groves
2012

Rolling along the weathered shoreline
Waiting for the tide to come in,
Kicking round a rubber tire
Brooding on the blanket-clouded sky
You place your name inside her heart
Hoping for a whitewashed start
Tides rise, plastic chips, ship debris, and sticks,
And seaweed
And oh! another wave,
Smiling at the love you gave
And weeping in the moat you're in
Of vanity and other sins

The sun is baking on our sides
Kites fly; I caught a fish alive!
I see the sun bleach the blue
She's looking up but can she find you???
Or me, or him or anyone at all?
Bouncing on a lovely beach-ball
You dive beneath the waves alone
He surfs along the briny blue sea-foam
And Oh Another wave,
Smiling at the love you gave
And weeping in the moat you're in
Of vanity and other sins

I scream, and other sweets
Pretty girls with pretty feet
Digging and we're digging
But still our minds won't meet!!!
I wonder if we'll wash the shore
It comes and goes but we want more
Lets face it, love; it makes the sun shine!
Oh! another wave,
Smiling at the love you gave
And weeping in the moat you're in
Of vanity and other sins

Your Satellite
by Simon Groves
2013

Satellite, your lovely lights
Your sequence in my mind
Breaks the code, enigma you are
Warm and soft and kind
Keep me Earth, and hold me love
I'll become the sky…
Like a satellite
Satellite spins above this town
I would turn your heart around
Love, and I, will conquer fear
And I will be your satellite.
Smash the sky, so divine!
Home in three, and gone in nine
Satellite spins above this town
I would turn your heart around...
Smash the sky, so divine!
Home in three, and gone in nine
Satellite spins above this town
I would turn your heart around...
Love and I will conquer fear
And I will be your satellite.
